Our group investigates fundamental flow phenomena in the areas of turbulent reactive flows, rarefied gas kinetics, flow/mechanics in porous/fractured media and biomedical flows (cerebral blood flow, heart assist device). These phenomena involve a wide range of scales and substantial uncertainties, which offer a huge potential for numerical/theoretical investigations. Consequently, we invest considerable effort into developing tailored statistical models and numerical methods.

Teaching activities of the group are in line with the outlined research topics and include courses on fluid dynamics, turbulent flows, and stochastic and numerical methods applied in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
